Gabriel's Reflection

For the last two years, the CAS project I have been involved in has been Crocheting Club. While I had already known how to crocheting in a basic sense, I learned more from my group as there were those who had different methods. It developed in me, a knowledge of the ability to teach others. This initial start of learning how to teach helped me out tremendously in the future as I went to a job over the summer where I was a counselor teaching. The ideals of the club really resonated with me, donating to the Bowery Mission the scarves and hats that we made. All the members passion towards the club, including my own, made the project something that led to a development of my own maturity.
Learning about the situation of homelessness and its rise in New York really leads to disappointment in what the world is doing to help aid those who are homeless. Having our project donating to The Bowery Mission to help the homeless and at risk youth leads to an approach that has me more aware in what my community and I can do to continue to assist those in need. A development of my character has been a large part what this CAS project has done for me. I really appreciate the chance to develop my ability in mentoring others, even those my own age, and remain mature enough to continue it without being distracted due to my age. Overall, the CAS project was successful, reaching our donation goal and developing creativity in each of our members, from teaching and developing that as a skill, or learning from one another and developing a new skill of our own.
